My point is that if colonial slavery did not exist and therefore segregation and Jim Crow never existed there would not be white guilt. To the OP's original question....informal studies have been conducted on the subject. To the best of my knowledge, nothing accredited or substantial has been officially studied on cuckolding or its any of its many deviations.
I could write a fairly extensive diatribe about sperm competition and alpha-beta pack mentality, but none of that really matters on a site like this. I think the real question at play with most of the guys here is..."Why do I feel this way? Why do I have this fetish?"
That is truly an introspective question that can't be answered by the writings of someone like me in Psychology Today (complete garbage in my opinion) or Journal of Applied Psychology or the BJP. You need to ask yourself the 5 golden questions....When, where, how, who, and why.
1. When did you start to feel this way? Did this start at puberty or was it developed later in life?
2. Where does the fantasy originate from? This ties back to the first question. Does it originate from a life event or maybe the first pornography exposure or does it lie even deeper?
3. How does the fantasy play out in my fetish? Is your fantasy purely interracial or is your fantasy more tied to an openly promiscuous woman?
4. Who does it normally involve? Most here fantasize about their wife or significant other, but if you changed life partners, would the fantasy still exist in this form?

I believe that you are absolutely right when you talk about instincts. My wife feels attracted to her black lover. She's not able to say exactly why.
She is fascinated by the idea of breeding with him. But she's very hesitant. She knows that a " good German girl" doesn't do such a thing.

As an actual evolutionary biologist, I'd say pretty clearly this is not something that would be adaptive. (That's what usually people think of as "evolutionary." however, not all things that are evolved are adaptive, but rather many are artefacts of other trends. For example, one of the trends in hominid evolution of modern humans is a shrinking of the dentition, probably related to evolving for cooked foods (sorry, paleo guys, but your diet flies in the face of how humans ACTUALLY evolved). However, our jawbone retains the proportions of our ancestors that ate tough leaves. The result of shrinking dental arc but a big jaw is that the jaw sticks out. Thus, the chin is evolved, but isn't adaptive. it's a side effect of other processes.
Here, this is certainly an outgrowth of how our brains respond to entirely novel environments. For humans, a big part of the important environment is social, which doesn't fossilize, so we know little about it. HOwever, I'd hazard that many responses are evolved for other things, but result in cuckoldry being appealing.
