Listen Hapless Hubby, you make a huge mistake. FY 2011 began in October 2010. The Final Budget was done halfway through in April of 2011.
Who was in control? "How", you say? By passing a bunch of continuing resolutions to keep the appropriations flowing but no real budget. It's a little spending trick Congress uses. Democrats fucked up though. They did not see the tea baggers coming and were still hammering out the bumps in Obamacare, the Cuckservatives took over, and made drastic cuts, including 310million to the NIH.

Well we have our problems in the UK as well. We are nearly out of PPE in our hospitals because, like many other countries, we've been buying it from China and we just can't get enough of it at the moment. Lots of medics dying - giving they lie to those who would tell you this is only like the flu.
Many people think our govt didn't shut down early enough, but on balance I think they got it right. You can't please everyone.
I think the virus has exposed the weakness in many countries. The market cannot and does not solve all problems. There is a role for the state over and above defending borders. My country needs to make sure that it can support its population effectively in times like this. I suspect the same applies to the US, but I'm certain some will disagree.

as for me...I know others a lot younger than me have died a long time ago.....and with my copd I am "pre-approved" for this thing.....but always thought I would die in the garage...or from heart attack or something ….not spend a long time in the hospital and die of a flu!
I was sicker than hell yesterday...been out in the garage a lot since this started...and weather been hot n cold...n fucked up...….day before yesterday went into the house for supper......not feeling good at all....ate n went to bed....next morning still sick...so called the doc......he had me come in...put me in something like a modified broom closet...done a few things...then sent me clear across town for virus test......it is given only by appointment by a Dr......anyway had the test and went home pissed and called the doc...he never gave me anything for whatever I have and I was not happy...…...he said waiting to see what tests say...might go to hospital...he called a few hours later and I have strip throat...I was clean on the virus...………….I guess with the way things are...….anywhere and no matter who you are....you get a little sick and that is the first thing that comes to mind...for everyone to include the Dr.
