Do you prefer to be heartless or brainless? (Midterms)

Did a quick check. There are currently three members of the federal goverment in jail. Two are Democrats one is a Republican. From what I read none of them was smart enough to run for high school student council.

ok...but still hard to believe....maybe like the brothel owner in Nev that got elected to office?

keep trying to pull it up and all I get is convictions
except for some virgina law maker who ran for re-elction while serving time....but it was for basically supplying beer to a minor

and I'm sure that is what HH is trying to make an issue of

and I would think if it was a serious issue he wouldn't have got re-elected
although I would think the drinking age in Virginia with all that "corn" around....would be 10?

Now I should say that stupid politians are not just American. On Tuesday a senior Canada politian announced that he was resigning from most duties if his office and committees because he was being blackmailed over some private parts photos he sexed to a person unknown to him.

This a guy that sits on a number of security committees.

well the election is over. Let’s see what happens. If the Dem’s go after Trump I don’t think the USMC trade deal will go through while trump is in office. It will be interesting time these next to years. Good luck.

I did read about your tax breaks that Trump brought in. It seems that ten percent of the people got ninety percent of the tax cuts and ninety percent got ten percent of the tax cuts.

Also read that Kudlow (think i got it right) said that the US has a spending problem and programs have to be cut. I am thinking Medicare, education, and welfare are on that list. None of which affect the top ten percent. So the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Wonder if these guys have heard of Marie Antoinette and her “LET THEM EAT CAKE” line.

you pretty much summed it up.....trickle down economics!

So the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Really? are you sure?

Poverty has improved only by 4% since 1964 when LBJ declared "War on poverty". Actually nothing has really changed much. The social programs being cut are failed programs. Welfare only serves to keep people IN poverty, Medicare needs to be revamped, and education needs a complete new structure. So I ask you this, which side is really the problem, the Republicans for cutting funding to fail programs in which forces changes, but don't offer any ideas of their own, or the democrats who continue to support failed programs, keeping people in poverty instead of looking at what could work better?

FactCheck: Poverty rate has fallen under Great Society
Bill O'Reilly of Fox News said that the poverty rate has stayed about the same since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society of the mid-1960s. He said, "Obama believes Johnson's Great Society entitlements can elevate the poor to prosperity. They can't. In 1965, the poverty rate stood at 14%. Now, after untold trillions have been spent fighting poverty, the poverty rate is 14.3%."
The Great Society agenda included such ongoing programs as Medicare, Medicaid, and Head Start--intended to improve the health care, Nutrition, & education; and focused on elderly poverty, which is down to 13%. That said, we'll take O'Reilly's statement on its own terms:

He uses the wrong numbers. The poverty rate was 17.3% in 1965, not 14%. So the poverty has fallen by 3 percentage points, or by about 1/6 its original level.

Counting different years shows even more decline. In 1962, the poverty rate ranged was 20%. In pre-recession 2007, it stood at 12.5%. Comparing 1962 and 2007, the poverty rate dropped by over 1/3.

well the point IS the rich get rich and the poor get poorer....so nothing you have said disproves that!
what I think last year wages went up 2.9%...cost of living 3.2%
cutting failing social programs...what is failing about them..they are helping those in need....something the rich sure doesn't do
there was a time in this country most of that was not needed.....people helped one another in one way or another
but since "trickle down"....the gap between the rich and the poor has widened.....far greater here than any other country in the world!

How has the wealth gap affected the American people? This gap between the rich and poor, the haves and the have-nots, is what produced the backlash that brought Donald Trump to power.

The wealth disparity between upper and middle income Americans has hit a record high, according to a new Pew Research Center Report.

TwoBi ... anyone can go find an article or two to support their side of an argument; but you damn well know that not ONLY are the richest Americans getting richer and the poorest Americans getting poorer, more people are falling into the POOR side of economic woe every day as jobs are replaced by automation, more companies move labor to overseas, the rich have the money to INVEST & lawyers to help pay less taxes on the money they gain. You also know that the wealthy control Washington legislation. You already KNOW this because we've had this very discussion before, several times. Next thing, we'll all be breaking out our graphs to prove our points ... nope, because as the saying goes "the more you run over a dead cat, the flatter it gets" is very true with this discussion. Next thing we know, some of the more affluent will start wanting to talk about their rise from rags to riches, how their family didn't have a pot to piss in, yada, yada, yada .... until we all go tone deaf. BS! You have no sustainable argument, and you know that.
Maybe, instead, we should have a more in-depth discussion on education again ... since it really all starts there.

I was into the bank this week transferring some more money into that money pit we bought to retire in this year...and there was a guy in there getting papers for something on a refi on his *******'s house...we were talking and his ******* has a brain injury and on disability...been drawing disability for a while now...in the middle of his refi...the gov took him off his disability...like a brain injury healed it's self...anyway the ******* was having to do something on the house...and we were talking about how trump has made so many cuts to the people in need
I get to the cashier and he was very nice and asked how the rump cuts were hurting..he now gets a $2,000 dollar bonus every 6 months

so I told him he was one of the lucky ones most companies took the money and kept it...but nothing on him or his doing...but people like that guy's ******* was paying for the bonus!

TRUE STORY!

Statistics don't support that claim Mac. If it were true then poverty levels would be increasing over time - but they stay relatively the same. The top 1% is still about 1%, not 2% or 3%. The super wealthy and poor have remained relatively the same. Nothing really has changed much over the past 50 years.

If welfare is so great then tell me why a family of 4, both mom and dad work. Dad looses his job and cant immediately find work. They can not get help with their house payment unless mom quits her job and dad moves out. ?? You are under the false impression that welfare helps the needy, it doesn't. It only places restriction on people and prevents them from helping themselves.

You are also under the assumption that I am wanting to stop these programs, not the case. I have no problem paying taxes when i know the money is being utilized for helping others. I want these program to be structured so they work and encourage people to be a benefit to society rather than a burden. It all starts with accountability. Good example is the high school friend of my ******* who had a free ride to collage and failed and dropped out the second year (his family was much better off financially than ours at that time by the way). My ******* worked 3 part time jobs to graduate with honors. She should have had part of her student loans forgiven and her friend should have been made to pay his free ride back - accountability.

Yes the rich has all types of lawyers to get them out of paying taxes, so what do you think raising taxes is going to achieve? Higher paid lawyers maybe?

Income inequality? seriously? LOL
So you are suggesting that a burger flipper should make the same as a rocket scientist?
You are pro equal outcome instead of equal opportunity, not surprised there.
If you don't like your career then change your career. Don't demand you get paid the same as others. - And this is a good example of where our welfare program fails. If you want to change careers you should be able to get help in doing so. But - alas - you can't. I know becasue I have tried to get our local unemployment office to pay for job retraining. Not in "their budget" they said. So I guess it's cheaper to pay these people unemployment for the next year and a half while they become accustomed to being unemployed.

Again, it comes back to structuring our tax laws to encourage corporation to give more back to the people and communities, not taxing the piss out of them and some bureaucrats deciding where the money goes. As you can see, our great government tends to keep most of it for themselves.

Cheech: Oh, well, man, he had some magic dust, man.
Chong: Some magic dust?
Cheech: Yeah, magic dust, y'know? He used ta give a little bit to da reindeer, a little bit to Santa Claus, a little bit more for Santa Claus, a little bit more...

What I am suggesting is that all Americans have equal access to a high quality education reguardless of back ground and finances. Brain power is not only found in the rich. These days America needs more people with more than a high school education.

I am also suggesting all Americans have equal access to health care. America can not afford to loose its work ******* at this time.

Yes these will cost money,

Check out the number of people that went bankrupt paying medical bill in each if the G 7 countries.

So you are suggesting that a burger flipper should make the same as a rocket scientist?

don't try to be smart....you don't have it!...you are just being an ass!...and that you are qualified

You are pro equal outcome instead of equal opportunity, not surprised there.

have no idea of what is going on do you...but then you are one of those that push and favor trickle down....your biz increased 3 fold and gave nothing to your employees!....that goes along way towards income inequality!

If you don't like your career then change your career. Don't demand you get paid the same as others

I don't have a career anymore....but how about paying the ones working a living wage......instead of the CEO several million!

And this is a good example of where our welfare program fails
what the hell does income in equality have to do with failing welfare programs?...you have a very short attention span don't you?

I know becasue I have tried to get our local unemployment office to pay for job retraining

you are always doing so much....how about sharing some of that "3fold" with your employees!

Again, it comes back to structuring our tax laws to encourage corporation to give more back to the people and communities

right....after you just got a nice tax break...you want to restructure?....as for corps giving anything back....proven that doesn't happen..guess you haven't heard of failing trickle down........it goes overseas...or haven't you been paying attention there either

As you can see, our great government tends to keep most of it for themselves.

really?....checked lately....ever hear of the deficit?......the gov is loaded..that's why they are trying to cut the social programs

right....after you just got a nice tax break...you want to restructure?....as for corps giving anything back....proven that doesn't happen..guess you haven't heard of failing trickle down........it goes overseas...or haven't you been paying attention there either

That's because our laws don't encourage them to share - duh, have you not been paying attention? -ACCOUNTABILITY. No accountability, of course they will put it in there pocket. But hay - lets keep doing the same fucking thing we have been doing for the past 50 years - for the next 50 years and see if anything gets better. I would much rather push corporations to give the money to their employees instead of taxing them. Why do you think the poor vote democrat? because they have been promised something and they are still waiting for it. If we don't try something different soon our grand ******* will be having this same discussion in 20 years. guaranteed.

your biz increased 3 fold and gave nothing to your employees!....that goes along way towards income inequality!

Hay brain dead - if you have been paying attention - I HIRED 3 PEOPLE. I had only 1 previously. so yes - I gave it to 3 additional employees - so suck a duck.
