I am quite happy with the election results so far.
Republicans blocked in the House. Good. I don’t want them to run the country as they see fit, which is often not fit for non-Christian females. Now the democrats get to block legislation.
No blue wave. Democrats aren’t going to win back even half the number of seats they lost when Obama was at a similar period in his presidency. Good. This sends the message that the Democrats are still very far to gaining the popular vote. Many swing voters and centrists who voted blue don’t really like them, they’re just voting against Trump.
More women elected into office. VERY GOOD. Now we have more negotiators and compromisers instead of ranters and ravers.
Stacey Abrams lost. Not good, but expected. I’m not blaming voter suppression. That she lost by a small margin, is extremely encouraging.
Ted Cruz barely won. I suppose that’s ok. O’Rourke was too liberal for me, and Cruz is as opportunistic and mendacious as any politician. If he barely won in a state where demographics are shifting against him, he’ll be very well behaved for the next few years and not piss off any more people. If O’Rourke had won, she’d go far left thinking that she’s guaranteed the next election.
Republicans increased senate majority. No harm. It just delays their inevitable defeat to the next race, when more vulnerable senate seats are up for grabs. The only concern is that the notorious RBG might drop off before the Senate shifts blue. I don’t believe she is going to retire of her own accord before that happens, but if she dies first she’ll really be notorious in history.
When is Pelosi going to retire? She may be a woman, but she doesn’t have my support, and more importantly she is a geriatric who is nearly 80. The democrats should be led by someone in the 55-60 age group, not someone a generation older.
