I understand what you're saying. For awhile my wife (28) and I didn't tell anyone that we were open (that she has a boyfriend). We started to realize there is the potential to have greater support if we told certain like-minded people. We told my wife's younger sister (25) who is somewhat polyamorous/open with her fiance that my wife has a boyfriend. It was exciting to tell/describe our situation to my wife's sister and for her to support us. Since then, I've heard my wife and her sister talking on the phone about their sex lives. My wife has also started to realize that at least two of her close girlfriends may also be supportive from things they've mentioned in conversations about sex. It makes me proud, excited, and humiliated all at once to realize we could be out to dinner with these friends in the coming months and they will know how my wife is bare and exclusive with her boyfriend. But I also realize that sharing this could help others who are thinking about it or haven't been able to take that first step.

In the end, I see how a certain degree of openness and sharing can build greater support and communication, which are the cornerstones of this lifestyle.
