My husband is my soul mate, we get each other in a way that neither of us has experienced before and I know he has my back no matter what.

MOst people grow dull when aging. Sorry to say that, but we got a political contest in our country that is a clear evidence of it. In my case, I think I'm lucky in finding out the truth while I'm still alive and sexually active. I found a girl with a similar attitude toward life and a high IQ level. Marriage benefits both of us. I think at this point it is normal in society. At the malls I see more interracial couples than same race couples. Spoken like a true American. That is the norm. It has been for a very long time. People think they can run away from a marriage or marraiges are uncool/boring, but in the end it all comes back down to it - one woman for one man, and vice versa.
Guys wanna hit it then quit it. They'll have sex with girls they're not attracted to. This is why rating system exists. Guys want to marry their 10s, but will have sex with their 8s. Free attitude about sex opens the door to free attitude about cheating C. It's a patriarchal society, and a guy who ends up getting cheated on is seen as a punk or a weak man. He's paying the bills while the wife is doing one night thrills, and that is a pretty messed up picture. D. Societies are more tightly knit. Everybody knows everybody. You can't just get lost. So basically changing partners like underwear has no place in that society - it's social suicide. These are all some reasons why women in traditional societies have turned down men who are just in it for the pleasure, without commitment. Which is to illustrate that guys want to bang their 8s and quit it.

People are trying to gauge when is the age they can push it until they will lose their attractiveness/youth/vigor and should settle down, before their value dwindles further. It's not quite so far from the norm as many people thing, ethical non monogamy is rather popular particularly with millennials.
The toxic ownership you're describing is a sign of insecurity. The need to control and hide away your partner isn't a good quality in a mate at all.
