Years ago my hub worked in an adult store with an arcade, he made copies of amateur stuff from Milton, tons of Aunt Peg, and all the upcoming stars, Victoria Paris, oh God there’s too many to mention, except my favorite F. M. Bradley, he actually has a copy of the first Blacks on Blondes release,,,here’s the rub, over 300 titles and they’re all on Beta,,,I watched when he went to transfer them to DVD, they we so sharp and crystal clear, I had forgotten how much better the Beta format was,,,he was in the middle of transferring an antique (silent French movie, I know because the text was French), when the drive belt on the machine went, and that project went into the “I’ll get around to it” pile. While he was at the store it was being updated from VHS to DVD, and his boss let him take home a 3 foot square box of those loops you referred to, not sure if they were 8 or Super 8, whatever the actual arcades used back then, but we moved seven years ago and I haven’t seen them since. That doesn’t mean we still don’t have them, there’s still boxes in storage I haven’t explored yet, I haven’t seen my favorite bathrode since we moved either, but our last apartment was totally empty when we left, so,,,
P.S. My hub says back then 99% of those loops were silent, he said all you heard was the ticking sound of the projector, and the occasional grunt, LOL. He says to this day, like a certain smell, or a particular song brings you back in time, every time he sees and hears a flickering projector these days come to mind,,,kind of a perverts nostalgia I guess,,,LOL
