I wouldn't stop with term limits though. I'd also demand that FPTP voting systems be replaced with approval voting or single transferrable vote
Prolly take something like that actually - but the powers that be would resist it with all their might. It however would prove to them who EXACTLY they work for and if it could be properly organized might just work.

Guns and ( of all things abortions ) have been used as political tools for what seems like my lifetime. Mac is losing his mind wanting to take the guns out of the hands of the people instead of asking a simple question over and over again. That Question is Why?
For ONE, dear Stanley, NEVER have I EVER suggested taking ANY guns out of the hands of those who cherish their guns. I, myself, have several guns in my own home, pistols, rifles, and shotguns. This has been stated by me on MANY occasions, but you wish to twist MY words to make it sound like liberals, like myself, wish to rob you of your precious guns. I do have my own opinion of the guns as I don't personally see a need for them UNLESS I'm expecting a WAR to break out. So, either you've confused me with someone else, or you're a liar ... which is it, Stanley?
What I have said is that the AR-15 and other military styled weapons do not belong in the hands of simple citizens. So, what do I think is doable:
• raise the age of ownership & purchase to at least 21
• more extensive background check on the purchaser including psycho/mental illness evaluations from a qualified observer
• require a training & qualification certification class (s)
• require that these guns be registered & reported stolen (like handguns in some states) with a stiff penalty if they aren't reported
• added taxes on these guns & supplies to support the above ↑
• limit the size of magazines
• limit on number of guns purchased at one time - limit on number of these guns that can be owned by one individual
Now, notice, STANLEY, I've said NOTHING about confiscating the AR-15s although they really shouldn't be in the hands of normal gun lovers. So why do you find it necessary to LIE about what someone in the forum said about these guns? This is the MAIN problem with you far-right extremist who think you have to establish a clear polarized opinion of a topic between Liberals & Conservatives. The guns are more powerful than the M-16s used in Vietnam. And I don't think citizens should be able to buy the M-16s off the shelf as used in Vietnam?
AND, before you conservatives start criticizing me of my opinion of the AR-15s, state your own suggestions, but simple BACK GROUND CHECKS ain't gonna do it.
AND, I don't think any kind of gun should be in the possession of teachers in the school systems. NONE ... if they want to put a qualified guard/police in the school, so be it but teachers & principals are there to TEACH ******* not occasionally use a hand gun on a villain. I have ******* in school so I speak as a concerned parent as well.

You REQUIRE these senators & representatives to debate their opponents & physically state what their platform is. You make the donations going to these individuals transparent (every dollar) so voters can see who's buying their congressional votes, you make every illegal event, even DUI driving, posted on their records while in congress so voters can see the integrity of their representatives. Same with their personal spendings of tax dollars, and the time they spend representing the voters in Washington and their own location.
If a person wishes to be re-elected their party puts an age and term limits to these individuals that they will be required to run on. I can assure you if the Democrats, for example, suddenly announced that their new representatives have an age/term limit, the other party would have to do the same, as the voters are tired and fed-up of incompetent, lazy, professional politicians.
By the time the voting cycle had been around a couple cycles, career politicians would start becoming history.

This is an easy one, I don't lie and my facts are not wrong, find where I have declared that my opinions are set in stone. I don't post directly to you ( I do sometimes, not often ) or a couple others on here because I have written them off as being useless to respond to. Others I simply block. You have a right to your opinion but know one has a right to demand limits on our freedoms. I don't own a gun, haven't for over 30 years. Don't waste your time, I am done responding today.
It strikes me every time this comes up, people only really want term limits for someone else's representatives. I strongly believe Pelosi and Schumer are two the right refer to so my question becomes if the electorate chooses to keep them there, by what 'right' do you want them limited? You can limit your own anytime.

The fact is we should have already had term limits on Congress. We were a just a whisker away from passing Congressional term limits back in the 90s. 12 year term limits for congress was part of the Republican Contract With America. Republicans brought it to a vote just as they promised. Guess why it failed.....the Democrat Party of NO. 83% of republicans voted for it. 81% of democrats voted NO. Since it would have been an amendment, it required 2/3 majority...therefore failing due to the Democrats blocking it.
The Republican's all but had term limits done in the 90s...until your Democrat Party Of NO blocked it. That was probably Trump's fault...
Oh there was a cigar, just not in Congress on term limits thanks to the Democrat Party of NO. Instead Bubba had the cigar and was focused on trying to put it in Monica's Oval Orifice.
