Black men are taboo because we are still seen at the bottom of society and viewed as dirty.

Maybe some people see black people as "dirty", but I honestly think that there's more fear than disdain in the casual racism psyche. It's not so much that pop culture presents black men as filth, it's that it presents them as powerful or dangerous. The show The Office had an episode where all the women were swooning over Idris Elba, who was at the time most well-known to American audiences for playing Stringer Bell, the ******* kingpin in The Wire. Now I think he's in line to play James Bond, a very classic dangerous / sexy character.

I think the dangerous trope subconsciously links to some notion attractive (in addition to all the horrible things it links to when taken to extremes, like red-lining, or police shootings).
