Looking to relocate

Looks so very stereotypically Mediterranean (and that's a good thing)
Lovely scenic photos.
They filmed a series from Game of Thrones here and also and House of the Dragon...The Templars from the 11th century...Amazing place...Monsanto, Portugal...🇵🇹🗡⚔️😉👌

For all of the foreign spots, how about giving this person things he can use besides pictures.
Like how is it like living in the West, or the stability of the economy, or the monetary policy and it's relation to the dollar?
All kinds of places has nice pictures and nice weather - but can be a shithole if you're coming from the First World.

Oh!! Well in that case, by all means blowout that 401k and invest your life in that country.
(Most of Game of Thrones - Kings Landing and Westeros is filmed in Croatia)

You know what's great about this photo...Sleeper Cell Ed and Jane...Ain't in it...🇵🇹🌄😉👌

It rains in a mountain village? So what. It's a 'dog bites man' headline. That happens.
Again, how does Portugal measure up economically in EU?
Of all of the EU countries, who has a worse economy - perennially? Maybe Greece.
How often has that country gone into recession in the last 15 years alone? Do you know?
It's a wonderful place to visit, but if you want to invest your hard earned dollars in an EU country, almost every other one is doing and has been doing better.

Fall Colors have arrived...Hiking in Serra Da Estrela...The highest point in mainland Portugal...Tough to beat! 🇵🇹🇵🇹👌🤘

I see this a lot when Americans try to retire in places like the Caribbean, they used to vacation there and think it would be a wonderful place to live out their years, only to find out that simple expectation like efficient plumbing, electricity, government services (especially after a rainstorm) for something as simple police protection - is an exercise in frustration. The hospitals and medical services are a nightmare, except Puerto Rico but even there it's below par from an average experience stateside. Money goes a lot further but, you'll spend more on services you don't twice about stateside. You always need more than budgeted.
The OP is leaving New York and wants to move to better weather. A lot of New Yorkers populate Florida and the Carolinas (ie Myrtle Beach and Charleston). With the way the country is now, I'd never move to a Southern Red State. Fuck that. I'd look at Palm Springs and Palm Desert in California, or the Greater Las Vegas Area. New Mexico and the Maricopa County Az area too.

The Carolinas are indeed really popular. I understand your feeling about red states. But here's the thing. So many people are moving to the Carolinas from other places that it's changing the politics of those states. North Carolina has been 50/50 for years now and is in play for Democrats. South Carolina is behind, but if people keep moving there, then the same thing is going to happen. Virginia has been purple for a long, long time.
