The 'feminists' you are thinking about, are probably ugly, messy, badly dressed far left academics who like showing up at demonstrations with bullhorns stridently protesting patriarchy.
The 'feminists' I think about, are not these caricatures. More like ordinary working women with opinions who don't see why they should be passed over for promotions, or marginalized at work.
I mentioned 'ugly, messy, badly dressed' above because that's what you guys are probably thinking, right? As a woman I don't care if some other woman is not attractively made up for the male gaze (that's me too!), but I do notice when somebody couldn't be bothered to comb her hair, or wear matching socks with her shoes, because she's too obsessed with pushing some Marxist agenda. I really do not like such feminists, because academia is full of people like that pushing ideology in your face.
