Naw you do not sound stupid at all, don't worry. I think it depends the person or couple. I had my personal beliefs before finding all this thru some people I was having serious discussions about racial justice issues with who was in to all this as a kink. There are def some people who got in kink first and others who had beliefs and found the kink later.
