In some instances, they 100% set prices, for instance medicare/medicaid reimbursement which is in my opinion setting a price. Rent control is another example of price setting. Milk is another example of price fixing. This also happens with utilities in some states.

We have inflation because the government printed more money and then they have begun to tinker with supply aide economics by reducing our ability to produce our own oil and also selling our reserve supply. You are not good at this.
