Jim Jordan lashes out at Dem after she criticizes his ‘premature’ subpoenas​


Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) was put out in a House Judiciary Committee hearing when Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett pointed out, in conversation with a witness, that he has not made any effort to establish amicable dialogue with agencies he wants to oversee before immediately rushing to issue subpoenas.

Plaskett began with a debunking of the repeated false claim by Republicans, pursued by Jordan as chair of the committee, that the Justice Department deliberately launched terrorism investigations to intimidate parents criticizing their local school boards.

"This one-page DOJ memo that we've made much ado about says, in its first instance, that the First Amendment protectedactivity, should never be subject to prosecution, and issues of concern of illegal violence and threats of violence made to school board officials, most of whom are, surprise surprise, parents," said Plaskett. "I am also troubled — deeply troubled by all the events, as well as increasing violence and threats of violence against civil servants and federal law enforcement as we attempt to weaponize these individuals doing their job. In fact, we have seen the consequences of this rhetoric over and over again."

From the day he left office through the end of last year, the coup-attempting former president’s various political committees spent $905,570 at his properties, according to a HuffPost analysis of new Federal Election Commission filings. From $94,462 that Trump’s Save America “leadership PAC” dropped at Trump’s hotel on Central Park West in Manhattan on Dec. 10, 2021, to $1,122 his newly reformed presidential campaign spent at his West Palm Beach golf course on Dec. 12, 2022, to twin $48 tabs the campaign spent at his Mar-a-Lago social club on Nov. 18, 2022, it all represents a conversion of donor money into revenues at Trump businesses, with the profits flowing directly to him personally.​

Trump’s campaign refused to respond to a HuffPost query on this matter. However, his pattern of spending large amounts from committees he controls to benefit himself is not new. Although the payments were described as “rent” in FEC filings, no political committee work occurred there. The practice stopped immediately after HuffPost published an article about it.​

During his 2016 campaign, he established his headquarters at his own mixed-used building in Manhattan, turning un-rented office space into cash. Then, when he secured the nomination, and the source of the money became the Republican National Committee’s fundraising operation rather than his own campaign, Trump quintupled the rent he was charging himself. Trump Tower, in fact, remained the single biggest target for Trump committee spending over the past two years, receiving a total of $412,958 from the “Make America Great Again PAC,” his renamed and reconstituted 2020 campaign committee, in the form of $37,542 monthly payments for 11 months.​

Not too long agon we had a local couple who posted asking for help for their children at Christmas as they experienced an apartment fire and all the kid's Christmas gifts were lost. The donations poured in, over $14, 000+ worth and the couple spent the money on themselves. Come to find out that NOT ONLY was there NO FIRE, they had NO C.HILD.REN either. Both went to court within 5-6 months of the discovery and got 6-10 months in the county jail with a big fat fine.​
Makes me wonder, why is it that Donald Trump continuing to enjoy his FREEDOM after all that he has done in the past 6 years. Is there no FAIR JUSTICE for the rich who violate the laws?​

Ahead of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he did not want Republicans to misbehave during the speech, telling members “cameras are on” and “the mics are hot.”

Mr McCarthy had tried to pre-empt the president by delivering an address on Monday laying out his terms for debt ceiling negotiations. Save for saying that Social Security and Medicare are “off the table,” after years of conservatives saying they needed to be reformed and made solvent, it was mostly typical Republican fare about fiscal responsibility.

Mr McCarthy’s hopes of GOP civility went up in smoke as soon as Mr Biden mentioned how some Republicans wanted to let Social Security and Medicare sunset, which led to Republicans booing and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia to call the president “a liar.” Later in the evening when the president talked about people dying of fentanynl overdoses, Ms Greene shouted that “it’s coming from China” and Representative Andy Ogles went a step further saying “it’s your fault.” That led Mr McCarthy to deliver a stern shush and a murderous glare.

But regardless of how disappointed Mr McCarthy might be in the fact that his conference couldn’t sit stoically for an hour, he really can’t mete out consequences the way his predecessors once did. That’s because he has made the decision to align himself with the far-right flank of the party.

Sarah Sanders roasted by hometown paper for 'word salad' SOTU response​


Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders' response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union Address was roundly slammed by Austin Bailey in an editorial for the Arkansas Times published on Wednesday.

"Ted Cruz and Marjorie Taylor Greene might not have liked it much, but President Joe Biden exceeded expectations with his State of the Union address. Hecklers tried but failed to knock him off his game. His signature empathy infused the hour-plus speech, and at the end there was little doubt this 80-year-old man isn’t done yet," wrote Bailey. "As the celebratory afterparty rolled on in the U.S. House chamber, Gov. Sarah Sanders commandeered TV screens to darken the mood. Excerpts her office shared earlier in the day hinted Sanders’ speech would include her standard snarling about wokeness and the radical left. No surprises there."

Among other things, Sanders claimed that a "woke mob" was taking over the United States, and under Biden, "we must partake in their rituals, salute their flags and worship their false idols." She even claimed that when Trump was president, she sort of felt like she was in the military, when she wasn't.

After tricking GOP to standing for Social Security and Medicare — Republicans are trying to say Biden wants cuts​


President Joe Biden is traveling the country after his State of the Union Address to promote the policy initiatives in his speech, including upholding Social Security and Medicare.

During the speech, Biden tricked Republicans into booing over his allegations that members of his party want to ******* the beloved programs. During the last election, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) proposed that all programs, even Social Security and Medicare would sunset every five years unless lawmakers voted to uphold them. It was a proposal that was quickly shot down by Senate Minority Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Now Republicans are trying to flip the script and claim that really it was Biden who wanted to slash the programs, Politico Playbook said on Wednesday.

Rep. Steve Daines (R-MT) claimed that Biden, not Republicans, was the one “proposing Medicare Advantage cuts.” Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) ranted too, calling the claim "a gross political lie." He too cited the Medicare Advantage program issue.
