The reel to reel I used in Germany was a Sony TC540. The small ones I used in the States, I do not remember - sorry!

You must be really good in hiding the tape reel. I just checked and Sony TC540 is as bulky as a big desktop computer, if not bulkier. Very impressive, a consummate voyeur haha.. I admire you.

True, the recorder was large, the mikes ( it had two) were not. I describe, in pretty good detail, how I did that. And, yes, a pretty skilled voyeur, I was.
