This is how I tried to explain California to people when I lived out there for maybe 7 years or so. You know, it has this image of being a raging liberal state. Well, what I found was that plenty of people in California held the same traditional values that Americans in other parts of the country did. The difference was that they were far more accepting of people who didn’t. That’s what made California different from so many other parts of the country. Thaaaaat was the difference.

Accepting? You liberals want everyone else to be accepting BUT you are NOT accepting of anyone else who do not hold your beliefs. Acceptance is a 2 way street.
