Visited Lidos today, in Dallas. If you have never been, $11 is admission (for 8 hours) to two cinemas, downstairs gay and upstairs straight. Upstairs, you go down a long hall, with private viewing rooms along the corridor on either side, with smaller screens ($3 for 12 minutes of video, multiple selections) and clean furniture (lounges and a bed for laying down). These rooms can be locked for privacy when occupied. At the end of the hall is the theater, with straight porn. Seemed most of the guys huddled in the dark spots in the back. Kinda weird. The idea is that due to Texas indecency statutes, if you hook up with someone, you go to the private rooms and lock the door. No exposure or anything sexual inside the theater...One guy started masturbating and someone came over and suggested he take it to the private room.
What I did notice was a woman walked in with her boyfriend, and they met up with several "linebacker big" black bull studs. She disappeared into private room #3. It was all very casual and safe, but it was clear that one guy stood sentry outside the door and allowed his friends in and out the door. No one was gonna get in at her unless was supposed to be there...she was in a safe and private room...and all the weird voyeur porn shop guys were not perving on her....seemed like a pretty controlled and good way to go about a BBC saturday afternoon. Felt bad for her boyfriend, who was stranded for awhile on a couch in the hall, clearly anxious to see what was going on with his girlfriend.
Made me feel encouraged that this lifestyle is legit and well orchestrated. I am hopeful she had a good experience.
