This is a thread about Biden and the Democrats, from a policy perspective! Yes, that's right, boring-old policy. The stuff that affects the day to day lives of every American, along with a huge chunk of non-Americans worldwide.

We are now 45 days into the 46th presidency of these United States.

Uncle Joe is in charge, with narrow control of the US Senate, and control of the House. The Democrats are back, baby!



Let's check up on how they're doing so far.

• Biden kicked off his term by reversing a bunch of bizarre executive orders from the previous administration. Migrant ******* won't have to stay in cages anymore. That's nice.
• Biden is finally using that Defense Authorization Act to kick Covid vaccine production into high gear. We'll get enough vaccines made for everyone. Yay!
• Covid stimulus is not going awesome. Once again they tried to compromise with Republicans by letting some Democrats dress up as Republicans so they could lose a negotiation with themselves first. Minimum wage increases, a ridiculously popular policy that benefits hundreds of millions of people, is out of the bill (and unlikely to pass on its own without first killing the filibuster, which... lol)

I'm really hoping the moderates won't "fuck this up" ... its really what is needed to eventually bring the two sides together. There are just still too many of the Tea Party members still there from the 2010-2012 elections. They keep the "no negotiations" crusade alive.
No doubt Democrats could use some testosterone or something ... too many old farts hanging on. I doubt their heart beats have been about 50 in 20 years.

... and not a ROUND OF GOLF has Biden played yet. Approval rating ABOVE 60% nationally.
Imagine what all would be getting done if the frik'n Republicans would just get out of his way!? Just not "interfere" and "obstruct".
Of course Trump would never let a little "flu bug" or any other national emergency interfere with his weekly rounds of golf at his Florida resort and riding around in his golf carts with a third of the SS following him around, watching him cheat at golf. Its why he gained 40+ pounds in just 4 years as President. Where would we be NOW had Trump succeeded in taking the Presidency? We'd be near a million covid dead by now, for sure.

Bernie's main issue was two part:
1. We didn't think he could win.
2. We didn't think he could lead
The same way the republicans used 'Black Lives Matter', and 'Defund the Police' as literal objectives, and retained several seats they should have lost and the state of Florida in the election, they would have used the 'be scared of the socialist' thing with Bernie.
Because of his lack of legislative wins (in a public sense, not substance sense), we thought the way the Congress is today, he would not get his agenda through. One Joe Manchin would be tough enough for him, but what about 12?
Biden's longtime in the Senate and support to Obama during their years was good enough information to be the best to counter the anti-American tidal wave on the right led by the Supremacist in Chief.

It wasn't Bernie as much as it was the times.

We all have our personal political agendas, that must match however imperfectly with the available candidates.

In that regard, I am very pleased that Biden used International Women's Day to promote the legitimacy of trans-women as real and genuine women. I am very pleased that Biden promotes the Equality Act, which will greatly increase trans-girl visibility and approval in my under-25 age group.

I am very pleased that Biden is aggressively pushing Critical Race Theory training in K-12 schools and universities. We may be entering a new era of Black empowerment, that even Obama did not envision.
