They are held in climate controlled holding areas until they are processed. In many cases, your "cage" is nicer than where they came from. It is a sad and necessary negative in dealing with their and their parents or "owners" criminal behavior and possible illnesses like tuberculosis . Once they are processed they are transferred to a dorm and attend school, receive medical treatment and are fed. In most cases they are cared for better than our own homeless citizens and vets.

The hostility has become rampant in many of these discussions. My experience with the detention process is mixed to say the least. I live in a border state so I've seen things with my own eyes, received information until April of this year from our neighbor who worked with boarder patrol until he retired after thirty years. I've wondered why the system was changed into the system we now have. Families were separated before but differently. The adult males and boys over fourteen were held in one place, the females and children in another. When and why we started taking even infants away from mothers would be interesting to find out. My suspicion it's money. Independent contractors are being paid to house and care for those children. It's like foster care, you have good, bad and despicable. Vast sums of money being made and my experience it's by those who wrote big checks to some campaign. We've had children die, Doctors reporting treating children for malnutrition. Like everything in today's world you'll find press and others beating the drums on both sides of the issue for mostly political reasons. Americans who hate immigrants simply because they are immigrants make me sad. If your not a Native American you or your ancestors were immigrants. They came by the thousands, stood in long lines waiting for entry very few were locked up and the separation of children from mothers not a policy of America.

I don't hate immigrants nor any decent human being regardless their race. This isn't a Leave it to Beaver(Look it up if you don't know) time. It really doesn't matter what has changed. The bottom line is both Democrats and Republicans gave us the immigration laws we have today. If you really think your family would be safe by opening our borders to whoever wants in then vote for Biden.

In is own words, there is nothing about open borders. Never was. Instead it's a detailed moderate plan on borders and immigration. Locking ******* in cages is not working. It may make you feel good, but it does nothing but take up resources and break up families already fleeing cruelty.

Immigrants keep a very low profile and stay out of the eye of the police or other government officials.
Americans are shooting up each other, shooting up schools, malls, churches, synagogues, movie theaters, and office buildings.

Immigrants are people who came here legally, They do not avoid contact in general. I think you speak of illegals who need to be unseen as possible to avoid being sent back.
