We have decided to do a temporary break up to see what it feels like. Basically I’m going to go to a friends for at least a week, we’ve agreed it should be at least a week but I have the option of extending it if everything is ok. As far as my friend is concerned I am just visiting. Now the idea is I’ll be cold to him on the day it’s going to happen and then just say you know what I want a break, don’t contact me, don’t call anyone I know and I’ll hang up and block him from everything. Now he has asked if I can make this hurt as much as possible, so I thought one thing I could do is email him saying you know what I want this to be permanent I’m seeing a divorce lawyer half way through. Does anyone here have any advice or tips how to make it really sting and hurt for him.

To say "totally stupid" is a bit harsh. But i too believe it's not the best idea for beginners.
Better start together! See that both partners are in it. Discuss the experience afterwards. And maybe later when you know from experience (see... reality is often way different than a fantasy!) that both are fully on board... and with somebody (a third) you feel you can trust there's a chance to open up further and for the wife/GF to have "alone time" with the other man. But ImO there always needs to be some sort of involvement of the husband/BF whatever that may be.
