PRC Propaganda claims USA has 100x the death rate of China from Covid!

Would you believe this?

Time Magazine is a notorious Chinese propaganda arm. The authors are from Duke and UCSF, which have so many Chinese grad students that their vending machines serve Hunan noodles. The article claims USA has 100x the deaths from Covid, but since USA is great and China is not, definitely this must be Chinese propaganda. You see that red lettering that Time uses in its title? That actually stands for red China!

Past few months I've been hearing that anything good about the Chinese handling of the pandemic, is propaganda. People on this forum say it, and people on other forums that I visit say the same thing. PRC can't possibly do anything right compared with the great democracy of the USA, so any good Chinese news is propaganda.

Now take a look at this arm of the People's Liberation Army, a Chinese provincial university with military links called JHU. (Bet you it stands for their last couple presidents Jiang Zemin and HU Jintao)

JHU is claiming USA has over 2 million cases and China 84220 cases. That can't be true. It's doubtless propaganda cooked up by Chinese trolls.

The Chinese haven't stopped at this; they clearly intend to start a panic.

The CDC, also known as the Chinese Diseases Center (should I spell it Centre?), claims USA has had 113000 deaths. The Reds are trying to scare us!

I was quite free today, so decided to just write something sarcastic. Living abroad has given me a perspective that Bubba and his cousin/wife living in their trailer home down in Redneck County don't have.

Other countries are not hell on earth. And some of what they do, is actually effective in a pinch. I believe that to progress the US also has to listen to others and learn what is useful.

A pandemic is a public health emergency that warrants a concerted, serious group response where we have to make sacrifices. But these lessons are lost on the America First/ Maga/ Freedom n Guns crowd.

What country do you teach in Angelyn?

I've argued with a few on here who assert that China is the root of all evil. I do think there is work to do to ensure that our countries do not remain so reliant on another country, with regards to cheap labour and supply chains.

But since of the anti China rhetoric over covid has been too rabid in my opinion. I am still not convinced they've done anything that wrong.

I still think China did under-report (it's likely Japan did as well, though South Korea was amazing and on the ball through this).

That's no excuse for how crazy abysmally the US responded to the pandemic.

Propaganda is about all our administration in the US has, after disbanding the pandemic response team in the CDC, failing to act or to coordinate a national response, and then for telling people to ******* bleach on national television.

Make America Dead Again I guess, JFC

edit -- by "propaganda" I mean largely anti-China propaganda. Though if China implemented some food safety laws to avoid more zoonotic viruses I would appreciate it very much. Please let Jinping know, lol

UK hasn't done that will either, but at least we didn't have the bleach drinking episode 😳

These anti China news are too conservative. The editors can say that China has killed 2 billion Chinese people with the new coronavirus. The evil Chinese government has concealed this fact.

You can tell the anti Chinese Editors, "yes, all the real Chinese are dead. Now there is only the clone army."

If you are lucky, you will receive a fee, which is enough for a happy weekend.

Americans will believe anything negative about China and Chinese.

In contrast, people from China seem ready to believe anything positive about America and Americans.

I'm really fed up with US politicians blaming all our problems on China instead of taking responsibility themselves. Scapegoating will do us no good. There is an NYT article about that today.

For Americans, this is at least a psychological consolation: ******* abuse in the United States is China's fault; rising unemployment in the United States is China's fault; racial discrimination in the United States is China's fault; police killing in the United States is China's fault. In short, all problems in the United States are China's fault.

What a perfect excuse. It doesn't matter if you don't believe it. Someone will believe it.

If U.S. Secretary of state Peng Peio is diagnosed with hemorrhoids in the hospital, he will tell reporters that China stabbed him. He never used some strange toys.

As the saying goes, no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American population.
PT Barnum once said There's a sucker born every Minute. But since he said that around mid 19th century when population was 1/10 that of today, I guess there is a sucker born every few seconds in this country.

But doesn't this apply to China as well, where there should be many more times the number of suckers and numbskulls?

I've always wondered about the people who buy rhino horn, pangolin scales, deer antlers and other clearly inedible things.

If African countries could get their act together, they should manage their wildlife, then sell all these useless parts to Chinese suckers who pay lots for them. Africa wouldn't need any foreign aid, there is free and fair trade, and some of the profits can be used to protect these species. Everyone wins.

Trump could even make a big buck selling his hair and nails to people in China. Someone will eat that for certain. But Trump doesn't have any feces left for Chinese consumption. All his verbal diarrhoea is already eagerly lapped up by his supporters.

Well, you understand, however, that "any lie that is repeated often enough it becomes the truth" ... Trump uses it as a weapon.
However, if the United States does not dare to wage war against China, all this is meaningless, because China will not stop its own pace, and it will go faster and faster.

I have a hunch that America will get crazier in the next 30 years, because its opportunities are running out.

What kind of opportunities are you referring to, exactly?
The US has abundance of food & technology, we could be oil independent if we so chose to be. What I've witnessed the past 25-35 years is a USA that is trying to "buy" allies with the commodities/technologies we have abundance of here. That's not the way to develop allies, as all many of them do is turn it all around and use it to compete with the US. We sell grain to Europe for pennies on the dollar, they up the cost of the grain we have sold them, and they sell it back to the US at a higher cost. What the heck's wrong with THAT picture? Makes no sense at all to me.
We, as a government just seem to have lost its way ... extreme Republicans feel its best to cut taxes on the wealthiest & the corporations, and in turn they will create jobs ... that's been their fallacy since the early 1980s and why we have a 20+ trillion dollar debt. All it does is further divide the "haves" and "haven nots", drains our revenue, and creates greater spending deficits & a national debt. And obviously you're aware that a big bite of that overseas debt is to ... tataaaaa ... China.
The other half, the extreme Democrats, believe in giving the poor more to survive, due to the widening gap of rich to poor. Problem is,, we don't teach the poor to survive on their own, just keep feeding them ... and they've grown accustom to government providing for them.
As a moderate Democrat, I believe "common sense" is the best way to do anything, so neither of the philosophies these extremists in either party is agreeable with me. But then, I'm not trying to accumulate allies for the next war, I guess.

What I find most outrageous by far, is the continued survival and flourishing of the MIC.

In the 1990s we were supposed to get the peace dividend, as Clinton put it. Over the time US could have reduced military expenditures to 2% of GDP and still retained an immensely powerful military. But no, Bush had to keep getting us entangled in wasteful, meaningless wars abroad. Now it is almost 20 years and we are still in Afghanistan!

The US economic boom of the last 80 or so years was built on 1) manufacturing, 2) hegemonic control over global trade afforded by the massive navy we built using (1).

We still have the biggest navy, but we outsourced most manufacturing to China, and China is rapidly rising as a political and economic power.

For instance, China's investments in Africa are catching up to the US and EU.

This is a weird backwards view that I don't see many people still clinging to. Pretty much every public assistance program in the US has a requirement that you work or that you are looking for work (except for disability, of course). Most people that draw public assistance actually have jobs -- a huge fraction of WalMart employees draw assistance. And WalMart is the largest employer in the US! Whee!

I wrote a lot of words and deleted them at last, because I realized that it didn't make any sense except to upset you.

I can only say: make more money, take care of yourself and your family, that's enough.

We are all just ordinary people. We can't do anything.

quimo ... I'm not the least bit upset at you. I welcome your outside view of the US; most all of us do, actually. I'm not sure what part of my response you found a reflection of "upset with you"? I'm very much "frustrated" and "ill" at my government for so many reasons I can't count. For example, in the news just this Sunday, we find that the government has been fudging (lying) about the real covid-19 numbers to its citizens to encourage more people to go back to work, etc. They give a crap that this virus is actually 10X more fatal for our older citizens. Maybe that's their intent ... to ******* off the older generations. My wife & I have old parents in their 70s and one that's 81; we very much care for the safety of our parents.
At any rate, I'm certainly not upset with you. Feel free to give your opinion or facts anytime to the forum. Sometimes one's reflection is what is needed to motivate one to become pro-active.

Because in western countries, too many people speak and too few people do things.

The most annoying thing for Chinese people is the boaster: if you are not good at this job, shut up your mouth and let other people who are good at it do it.

In the west, there are too many such people, especially in government institutions. They may be a senior lawyer, dentist, actor, businessman. However, they do not know how to manage a country, how to manage civilians and deal with various social conflicts.

But you are expecting these people to lead you forward, which is your own choice.

We can change our lives. From now on, you are not an American. You are a young Chinese college student. You have been admitted to the civil service, and you begin to enter the Chinese officialdom.

In China, when you enter the field of civil servants in your twenties and thirties, you must start from county-level cadres. When you can stand out from the competition of other county-level cadres, you are a qualified official. At this time, you have the experience of managing an average population of 2 million.

The county-level field is a battlefield for recruits to be eliminated. Being able to survive in the county-level field proves that you are a qualified official. The period may take 5 to 10 years, depending on your ability and achievements. Then you will enter the next field.

After entering the city level, according to the city level, the population under your jurisdiction will vary from 8 million to 30 million. This stage usually takes about 10 years until you enter the provincial level.

Provincial officials are the reserve of central officials. In the process of provincial career, you will at least take turns to spend your term of office in two to four provinces, which means that the population under your jurisdiction will accumulate to the level of "hundreds of millions". The average population of China's provincial level is 70 million, and there are different regions.

At this stage, it means that you are over 50 years old, you have rich experience and outstanding ability. Such a large governing population means that you have dealt with various social conflicts and disputes in your official career. What else can you not deal with?

In the new rotation of the Central Committee, you start to enter the field of the Central Committee. At this time, your work characteristics start to change from the population under jurisdiction to the state management. If you can enter the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of China, then you are one of the seven most powerful people in China, and you have reached the peak of your life.

Compared with American officials, you will find that former President George W. Bush's management ability may not even be competent for Chinese municipal officials, Obama? Trump?

You're playing slot machines, and you're expecting "777," but your odds are only one in 10 million.
